Wow, only one complaint and that was due to a leak, not really a diesel mechanical problem. Those with problems tend to tell it loud and clear, so I can only surmise most all the 6.0 problems have been ironed out. Thanks guys for the good info.
For what it is worth, I have an '04 F250 with 54,000 and not a problem except for replacing an EGR valve at about 35,000. Love the truck but need to move up to an F350 to pull a larger 5th wheel.
07 , but only 3500 miles . Coming from the "dark side" (GM) and reading negative 6.0 posts on this site I noticed myself trying to find something wrong with this truck even down to rattles, bad steering, bad location of instruments, etc. . I have found nothing. Driving the crew cab duramax was a little softer, engine was quieter and truck seemed more nimble when manuvering in tight quarters. The f250 seems to be a stronger tow vehicle, has the king ranch option that gives the truck a very high end attitude , 20" wheels that were not offered at the time, and with the overall exterior apperance the Ford seems to dominate in not only these categories but many more. As an example yesterday I drove a co-workers equalivent crew cab duramax to my crew cab power stroke and I felt like I was in a half ton . Anyway.......... so far so good.
My 06 has been great. It now has alittle over 18k on it (not really alot) but if it keeps up the way its going, its on its way to last a long long time. I do occasionally tow and its now lifted 4 inches on 35's. So it gets a decent workout too.
I have been disappointed with the release of the 6.4L. I really thought Ford would have spent the time to get this one right, right out of the box. With all the problems not only mechanical, but the legal problems with International.
Go with the '06 save the money and get a proven diesel.
07 with 5000 miles, no major problems, only a frayed serpentine belt, replaced under warranty, problem a bad belt to begin with and not pulley problems

Same here, 07 XLT Crew Cab, has 8694km (5401miles) and belt was replaced- it was making a noise and the top was showing sign of wear. I quizzed dealership about pulleys and was assured it was the belt. Other than that no problems and runs great!!!!
I am also in the market for a new truck. I looking at model years 06' and 07', I would only roll the dice on the 08' to get the new F450 and that is a long shot at best. Stick with the 06' and 07's and you will love your new truck for many years to come.
