I took the IAC off the truck and cleaned well with solvent nice and shiny,
then I noticed the small plunge wasn't completely close all the way, so I gave the solenoid 12v and I could hear the solenoid doing a CLICK! CLICK! sound, but the plunge didn't move at all?
Is the valve bad?
It maybe stuck. I know of no way to test. Have you noticed it having a little trouble idling after startup? Especially when cold?
NO I don't have that exact problem, my truck starts wonderful, after warm up it shakes a bit too much at idle, not like is gonna stall but shakes a bit,
maybe I'm convinced that it should be quiet and smooth like a Cadillac!
The IAC is basically an electronic choke for an F.I. engine. A small amount of shaking isn't to much of a cause for worry. But when it gets violent is when there's something that obviously needs fixin.
IAC = idle air control valve. It controls the amount of air bypassing the throttle plate at idle to control idle speed.
If the iac is bad, the truck will idle too fast when you come up to a stoplight when its warm. Or, it will die because of idling too slow. The iac will not cause/correct rough idle.
The shaking at idle is more likely a plug or wire or injector issue than iac. The engine won't care about the leaking rack, but the rack does, so I'd recommend getting it fixed.
