So my 68 bronco with a 302 (from 77) and a NP435 tranny (manuel) has been having starting problems in cool to cold weather.
When it is 45 or colder outside (about) the solenoid will not plunge at all and thus it will not turn over. Also when it does heat up out side and does start about 3 out of 10 times of turning the key to off the motor still runs without the key.
I have a new solenoid new battery new grounds new starter, any help on this problem would be great thanks.
Could it be the ignition swicth? even though it works when its warm outside, i also have a feeling that nothing is wrong with the ignition switch but im not as knowlegable as you guys, Thanks.
Next time it is doing it, remove wire from "S" term of starter relay and jumper "S" to pos side of battery. If it starts, look towards ignition switch. Make sure the starter relay is grounded, sheet metal mounting screws don't always do the job.
