Hi to all I have a aerostar its a 96.i have problem with my driver and passenger windows they don't go down at all.I'm not sure what is the problem if its a fuse or anything I'm only 18 don't really know a lot about car things, but i found fuses area and i'm not sure witch is the fuse for the windows i have taken pictures if you guys can point me to them so i can check if it works. Also in the picture it seems like theres somethings missing not sure if you guys can take a look and help me out.i will appreciated any help.
The cover that you remove to see those fuses is supposed to have the fuses legend (ie it tells which fuse is for what function).
The problem is often the switches on the drivers door (yes, they can both go bad) and the wire harness from the body to the door. The PW motors themselves die too -- I've replaced three in seven years. And the doors crack out around the window regulators (the part that lifts the window is called a regulator, go figure). I posted some pics of that in this thread.
If you find a fuse bad, something blew it, it didn't just get tired.
Testing blade fuses is easy. Buy a cheap 12v test light ($5 - 30; they all work the same). Ground one end of the light (it has a wire with an alligator clip for this). Tap pointed end to something you know has power, to make sure the test light works and the ground for it is OK. Then turn the Ign. to ON, tap the test light pointy end to the little metal contacts on the top of each fuse. You should either have OFF/OFF or ON/ON for every fuse. If you test a fuse and get ON/OFF, that fuse is bad.
You can cheat and pull each and look at them, but that's not as conclusive as the test light test.
On both of mine, there is a steel cover that's part of the lower dash panel held from the bottom with two twist-pegs. The inside of this cover has a piece of paper labeled "Fuse Identification" with the fuse numbers and their purposes listed in English and French. This little label says the circuit for the power windows go through fuse 14; 20amps rating.
Manny, if the windows on both sides went out at the time, it's a good chance that the fuse blew. If they went out at different times, then it's either the switch or the wiring.
Quick check, open doors and with ignition switch on operate window switches. Look and see if interior lights dim slightly when switch is operated in down position. If so it maybe a bad motor. If the motor runs the plastic buttons in the window motor may be stripped. You can use 7/16 inch nuts behind the drive gear in replacing the worn buttons.

With the fuse blown, I don't think the motors will draw any current.

Take off the power window switch in the door. The Light Blu/Black wire is the power feed from the 20a fuse. This should be live with key in accessory position. If you operate the window switch up & down, then the yellow & white/black wires should become live repectively (these wires feed the motor). If not then the switch is at fault or the power feed is broken somewhere ( if the blu/black is not live). If they are all O.K. then the fault is at the motor or 2 wires either side leading to it. You only need one bad connection or corroded wire to stop the whole sharabang from working. A common failure is broken wires at the door pillar where it feeds into the door thro the rubber gaitor. It is possible to repair with wire joiners if you can see the broken wires, but likely you'll need to do some dissassembling of the door & associated panels around the harness.
You can test the motor if you disconnect the connector & run a jumper from the cigarette lighter socket, while grounding the other lead.
BTW in a 96 the PW motor has a strengthening bracket which stops the door from cracking. So if you guys with cracked doors want a permanent fix get a door off a wrecked 96 !
