I had a Powerpack on the V10 and it made a power difference for towing. What I didn't like was how much louder it was on the interior of the vehicle. I pulled the interior and installed sound deadening material to try to quiet it down. I had a nice tone on the outside, though. Banks designed a different muffler for the Ex. than for the truck. I don't think the truck had the noise problem because the muffler was under the bed, rather than the cabin. I think the muffler resonance caused the interior noise.
We have the power pack installed and love it. Lost of power and a little noise inside the cabin. Not too much and my wife even likes it. I even put a high flow Cat from flowmaster and it help even more.
Thanks, Bryan
P.S I think I will go with the high flow y pipe and headers soon. It is well worth the price in my opinion.

Uhh.... The Powerpack IS headers, Y pipe, exhaust pipes and muffler, as well as the high flow KnN type filter...
We have the Powerpack from Banks (headers, y-pipe, cat back with muffler, compooper chip, tranny chip, cold air intake) on my wife's Ex. We ceramic coated the headers and y-pipe - they look as good today as they did 6+ years / 70k miles ago when they were installed.
Noise - yes, it drones a bit, but no complaints here.
I know this was about the banks pack improvement...here's my $0.02...but keep in mind I have a 2005 V10 (still a 2 valve version though) and it has more power than yours to begin with.
I did a bunch of research before buying my new 9200# TT as I was concerned about my V10 and 3.73's since we tow far and wide and climb some serious grades...our last TT went 7500#'s and in the Big Horns and Rockies...I REALLY had to wind her up to keep speed on some high steep grades...
My research included increasing "power" on the V10...but I felt there had to be a better way...for me, I went with better towing gearing to BETTER utilize the power that you are losing thru the 3.73's. I just had 4.30's installed on my Ex and let me tell you the low end pep from this 7500# truck is IMPRESSIVE!...I would have NEVER believed it!...step on the go pedal and she jumps right too...step too hard and she will just lite em up!
I spent $1548 for gears, synthetic fluid, tax and labor for my 4x4. I have NOT towed our TT yet as it is still a little early in the season for us northerners...but judging by how responsive she is on the low end...I think I am going to be VERY happy towing our TT.
Other than the gears, the power train is stock...no intakes, exhausts, chips...nothing...
The V10 IMO is a VERY strong motor...she just needs the proper gearing to mate up to the RPM band...the 3.73's are a poor match for the power curve of the V10...I truly believe the single best bang for the buck to improve the performance of the V10 is gearing...I really don't know why Ford even puts 3.73's behind her...I'm sure to somehow appease green-puke or something...but I am expecting BETTER towing MPG's with the 4.30's since she won't downshift near as much...
Agreed on the 4.30's. I kicked myself up and down for not ordering the 4.30's with my '00 V10. The power band for towing needs the higher RPM's. I had the Gear Vendors with the Powerpack, but 3rd-over was only roughly equivalent to OD with a 4.10 gear. If I had the V10 to do over again, Besides having the diesel I have now) I'd have the 4.30's with the GV. That's the ticket for towing with the V10/4R100 setup!
