My son's 93 bronco stereo will not produce sound. We replaced the HU and double checked the wiring but no sound from the speakers. Is there something we are missing?
Sometimes if the bronco came with a better sound system, like bose sound or something like that there is an amp in between somewhere. I am trying to remember but on the explorers I think it was above the rear drivers wheel well, on the inside of course. I found this because the speaker were not directly hooked to the head unit. A little trick if you want to know if the speakers are hooked right to the head unit is to take a 9 volt battery and touch the contacts accross the two wires that go to each speaker. You are probably safer to do this with the bronco turned off, but just take a short jumper wire from the battery contacts to the two wires that go to each speaker. You can probably find the colors on the internet somewhere as I cant remember them right now. If it does work you will hear a little 'pop' out of the speaker. This does not hurt anything, just an easy way to check the speaker/wiring with no special tools...
Thanks for the response. It must have a bad ground some where . When he goes over a bump the speakers will work and then go off again. Does a Bronco have a common ground under the hood somewhere?
