I am looking for a headset that will work with a phone at the rated 33ft distance or at least 15 to 20 ft. In the work that I do, I have to go into basements where there is no cell coverage and I would like to leave my phone upstairs while I have the headset on downstairs. Does anyone have any knowledge of a particular headset that will provide a good connection from a decent range?
Motorola advertises 33' for there Bluetooth transceiver...just saw an ad in todays Baltimore Sun....prices around $60-65 - I think....don't exactly remember price. Don't remember it being much different than others.
My LG phone from Verizon came with an LG Bluetooth earpiece and it doesn't shut off for over 20' - and that's thru 2 walls into the house. It's just so damn uncomfortable that I wouldn't recommend it. It's got only a wire that fits over the ear....cuts off circulation after an hour.
BTW, that Motorola price is less than 50 bucks after rebate from Best Buy.
Yea, but I don't know if that Motorola one is any better than the one I have now. At least you can testify to the 20' distance of the LG, which I would be more inclined to get.
All bluetooth headsets are subject to interference from other devices that share the same frequency range. These other devices include 2.4Ghz cordless phones, wireless video cameras, computer WIFI networks (802.11b/g/n) and standard microwave ovens. These devices all run significantly higher power then the headsets and cell phones that communicate with then through bluetooth. In home environments you are subject to all of these interference potentials. In office environments you usually find the WIFI and maybe the microwave ovens (near the break rooms). In my experience the interference problem usually limits the range of the bluetooth headsets, and none of the them will be able to counter this problem, the interfering devices are just too strong.
I have the Plantronics model 830 with a LG cell phone. This combination works reliable anywhere from less then 3 feet to more then 30 feet, depending on where I happen to find myself. In some cases the headset is unusable from my ear to my waist (where the phone is).
