Loud Tick

So the other day it was sunny out so i had my windows down and my split window open. Im driving along enjoying the weather and then i start to notice a pretty loud ticking sound comming from what seams to be the rear end on the truck. It only happens once in a while but it only happens when starting from a stop. Ive only noticed it when starting from second gear. And its only one loud tick, like a metal on metal tick, or click. Also its not when the truck starts rolling. its between starting the roll and compleatly off the clutch. So from the drivers seat it sounds like it could be comming from anything from the trans back. Im leaning more towards clutch related but i just hope its not my rear axle. Any thoughts and ideas for trouble shooting would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Truck is 1991 F-250 EXt cab 7.3L 2WD ZF-5, 3.55 rear axle ratio, 317500K

Most often this type of noise ends up being a worn universal joint on the drive shaft in my experiance.

I also agree on the U joint, but also check the carrier bearing.

In the U joints, none.
If the U joint cross moves in relation to the cap you have found your bad universal.

You list an extended cab, it should have a two piece driveshaft with a carrier bearing located on a cross member at the back of the cab.
