Has anybody had any experience with Wix's replacement air filter for the 6.0? It has a filter element that can be taken out and replaced for around $30 (you don't have to replace the entire housing like you do with the $70 Motorcraft). The initial cost is around $140, but I figure I can save money after two changes or so.
Beware of aftermarket air filters in the 6.0psd. I had a truck with a dusted engine. Caused was a leaky seal around the air filter. It cost me thousands and not covered by warranty. There are lots of other posts from psd owner with similar stories.
I absolutly agree that aftermarket filters for the most part are a waste of money but this powertrap is made by visteon and kind of modles after the van filter boxes. The reason I installed this on my trucks was because the factory inner endcaps on both trucks were leaking outside air directly into the turbo inlet on both trucks. And yes, the dealer replaced them under warrantee and they leaked again.
I've got one on mine and I don't have the mass air flow sensor and had to make an adapter to get my air temp probe back in but, my UOA's have come back great and it only takes me a couple of minutes to change the filter out and I feel good about that.
