Just purchased an 06 F350 SD CC 6.0 and looked this forum over for lots of info before I made the decision. Is there anything I need to know or do to keep everything in good running order? Sure appreciate all the info discussed on here.
Just change your oil regularly, don't listen to the extended change interval people, not with the 6.0, I found that the more your on this site the more "noises" or other problems you start imagining you hear or have so becareful (from experience) on what you read. This site IS great lots of great info and help.
WELCOME! This site is the best there is. I have a '04 6.0, 54k on it, and not a problem. You WILL LOVE your truck! And yes, They are WAY too fun to drive
Don't put more than 15,000 on your Fuel Filters. This truck likes filters. Find a good source for filters. Personally, I like http://www.adiesel.com. I buy them for my boat too.
Here are the things I learned from others here:
1: Keep the Stock Air filter
2: Everyone liked the 15w-40 Shell Rotella Sythentic, change at 5000
3: Popular Tuners are Superchips Flashpack and SCT (I dont have one yet)
4: Get some gauges, Boost, Trans Temp, and EGT ( I dont have them either, yet)
5: Learn about all the different Mods for your truck, you can have allot of fun.
Overall, read allot about the truck, and make the best decision for you. Oh, and come back and share your experiences.
Preventive Maintenance is the key to keeping a diesel in good running order. I let my diesel warm up for at least 15 minutes in cold weather, change the oil at 5000 miles, change my fuel filter/water separater at 10,000 miles. I have 96,000 miles and the only major problem has been 3 injectors that were just changed out, which is common for the 03' 6.0's. For oil I use Mobil Delvac 15w40 and the blackstone oil analysis reports are looking good. I wish you the best of luck.
http://www.santextrucks.com/ (International Dealership in San Antonio) sells the International IH1847170C93 (used to be a ...C92 part#) fuel filter set (same as Motorcraft) for $30.69. Shipping from them may be too much, but maybe you have an International store close by.
International part # for the oil filter is IH1840752C91, although I have not found this filter as cheap as the motorcraft anywhere.
Lowest prices are always in bulk, DieselFiltersOnLine has free shipping over $250.
PepBoys and others sell the FRAM oil filters WAY cheap - I have never been able to find them. Search the site for ways to ensure that if you buy the FRAM it is the correct one (patent number on the filter).
You MUST use the proper Fuel, Air, and Oil filters in these trucks.
Most folks use a fuel additive also - Diesel Clean or Stanadyne. I buy stanadyne in cases of 12 pints and with shipping it totals $4.57 per pint. One pint treats 60 gallons of fuel. I buy at Stanadyne at Dioesel Manor: http://www.dieselmanor.com/
Thank you all for responding. Clean oil and filters will be the norm! Not sure about any mods right now. Will probably continue to lurk the site and get as much info as possible before deciding. Sure appreciate all the knowledge here.

Here is a thread I started when I was in your shoes. I've learned a LOT since I was here, but I got the ball rolling on my education right here
Best thing to do first - is read the diesel supplement manual - in the glove box. Follow the manufacturers recommendations and all will be good for the 100K warranty.
Gunner15a, I read your thread today and this evening. Lots of great information! Thanks for attaching the link! Boy do I have a lot to learn. Thanks to all for the welcome.
Used to stalk E-bay alot but FTE is now the favored site.

Well we all asked pretty much the same questions when we first got our trucks, I just happened to be lucky enough to be able to ask them all in one place
