What is involved with dong this? Do I have to remove the exhaust manifold to drill the hole? Where is the best place to order a pyrometer? Does the truck have a safety mechanism if the EGT’s get too hot? Also, the driver’s side exhaust manifold already has a tube that comes out of the manifold up to the top of the engine. Does anybody know what this tube is for? Thanks.
sounds like some one already had a pyro on your truck at one time, if u already have a tube coming out of the driver side manifold............call bill at Dfuser he is a sponser of this site, he will hook u up with eactly what u need and give u excellent tech support from start to finish on your guage install....................check my photo galley for pics of pyro install and my gauges.

So you're running boost, pyro, tranny, and oil? Looks haunting, in a good way. Nice job on the install, fellow craftsman!

dont mean to hijack this thread but, yea i love these autometer cobalt2 guage setup i installed on my 2006.....they r all electric and all full sweep, with blue leds, no flutter at all, these r really nice when towing 10000lb loads around, and when in the 100hp tune, blowing the cumma-parts and the dura-craps at the red lights....................but i an still scared to run the 100hp tune to much do to head bolts and head gaskets problems.........thanks for the compliment, i took my time and did this install by the book.
Diesel Manor, a sponser on this site, has excellent instructions and pictures showing pyro, boost and trans temp gauge install and they have a great price on the 3 gauge set plus the paint for the gauge pods. The location of where to drill the pyro hole is shown in the pictures. Good luck.

Saving my Penney's for a rainy day... Rainy day... that's a metaphor for more trick parts!
Cheers, friend!

I'll answer your questions one by one..
1) Do I have to remove the manifold to drill the hole? Answer: See the link in the previous post to a long discussion about drilling in place or removing the manifold. I vote for removing to insure no metal shavings get sucked into the turbo.
2) Where is the best place to order a pyrometer? Anser: If you just want a pyrometer and a guage, you've got a lot of options. If you buy a tuner that monitors EGT, you can get one with the kit.
3) Does the truck have a safety mechanism if the EGT's get too hot? Answer: Not sure about the stock programming, but if you get a performance tuner that uses EGT input, it can use EGT temps to protect the engine.
4) The driver's side manifold already has a tube, what is it for? Answer: That's the exhaust back-pressure sensor. Don't mess with it.
