shifting problem

Ok here we go,84,f-150,auto trans aod.Had to replace steering column couple friends done this while i was working and now tranny wont shift from low range. gear,indacater switch seems to be where it should be [as in drive,reverse,park,when i **** into any gear it seem to work fine just dont come outta low,reverse is fine.any ideas on what i should look at ?trans seemed to work well before i had this done.Thanks,Paul

I would get under the truck, take the linkage loose, and see where the tranny lever is really at.

AOD no Shift

I went through something like this last summer. From what I was told by the re-manufacture of my trans, with the linkage type AOD, Start at one end of the adjustment rod at the trans, work your way up/down until it shifts where you want it to. Do not drive for any long distance until it shifts through all gears or it will VERY quickly fry it! The Electronic shifting AOD is supposed to have a pressure port to help with the adjustment. Not sure about the cable type. Hope this helps!
