when ever i use a diesel fuel additive i get around 12 to 13 mpg highway but if i use none i get around 16. i deleted my catalytic converter, k&n airfilter, wickedwheel compresor, and a superchips tuner for my 2001 f350 anyone else get this problem?
How long have you went without the additive? Because I notice a pretty good change in MPG when I use it for about 3 fillups in a row, then on the next one that I don't use it on...I get good mileage...
i have used been using lucas brand for the past 5 or 6 fill ups and this last tank i havent used any and i have 78 miles driven and the fuel gage hasnt even sarted to move, with he additives i only get about 400 to 450 miles a tank. everyone says i drive like a old man. i have no clew as to why the fuel milage is so drastic
i can tell a big difference with 16oz of Diesel Kleen per fill up. i hear that the Lucas additive is good stuff. i get a 2 to 3 mpg boost with DK. what kind of K&N filter do you use?
i got it a autozone they said it is the best one oncei installed it i noticed a big difference in power, but i have to use different filters for different things it is so dusty where i work in utah that i try to get the thickest paper filter i can then when i come home to northern idaho i try to get the least restrictive.
the reason i asked about the k&n filter is because it can raise the silicon levels in the oil on Oil analysis reports. Several people here run the Quik filter (6637). with great results. it gives our trucks all the air it needs and keeps the oil clean. in dusty conditions i would recommend the ford AIS intake. awesome free flowing heavy duty intake. didnt mean to hijack the tread.
to get back to your mpg issue with lucas, how often do you change your fuel filter? the lucas additves might be really cleaning out your tank and lines and it ends up in the fuel filter! i know when i started to use DK i had to change mine twice in 3000 miles!
i changed it about a month ago but ill try changeing it again, but this problem also occured in my 96 f250 crew cab 7.3l. i try to use exactly what the directions say on the containers. i just cant believe i would get such a drastic change
