A/C Compressor Replacement ?

The A/C compressor is locked up on my 1994 F250 and I need to replace it . How is that hose block on the back set up ? Is that large bolt on the side a cap or a valve and the little bolt on the back the retaining bolt ? I would appreciate any tips on doing this job . - Thansk

Question ...More A/c Questions

Scuuuse me Pete for piggybacking your thread , but I am in a similar position. My 1996 F350 7.3 turbodiesel no longer pumps cold air all of a sudden. The symptoms are ; the clutch will engage for about 5 seconds, disengage for about 20 and then click in again...only to go through the same cycle again and again. Can anybody tell me if that is a relay problem(I wish), a clutch malfunction, or is the compressor itself seizing ? If it is the compressor going bad, how do I replace it without losing the coolant. Any tips ? thanks

Sounds like you are low and need a charge.

The small bolt on the back is the retaining bolt. Once you take that out, the block will pull off. It is seated with 2 o-rings.

Off the top of my head, I can't remember. I will have to take a look at mine tomorrow. I'm sure somebody else will chime in with the answer sooner than that though.
