I looked at the diagrams. The GEM module is hooked into a network which includes the engine computer, the abs module, and some other modules.

What specifically is hooked to the GEM module is;

The door ajar indication system.
The courtesy lights
All wiper controls
Rear wiper disable feature
Rear window and mirror defrost
Keyswitch warning system

Controls power to;
4wd transfer case controls
turnsignal switch

It also had the speed reference signal from the abs module, and a throttle position signal. I can only guess the speed reference may be used to automatically lock the doors at a certain speed? And they also may use that and the throttle position for a mileage computation?
