Swapping transmission questions
I have a '76 F250 w/ a 390 and a 4 speed and want to swap it to a C6. What do I need as far as additional stuff to swap this tranny in? I'm assuming flywheel, tranny cooler, lines to the cooler, shifter & linkage........what else am I missing? The t-case is divorced if that matters? The truck the C6 is coming out of is a '75 or 76' I think....I'll have to double check on that.

I'm not familiar with the older trucks but you may need the trans crossmember and mount if they are different between auto and manual. Make sure your auto flexplate is balanced for the 390 engine. Your "new" C6 came behind an FE engine? They have a different bellhousing pattern than the Windsors and big blocks so trannys won't swap between the 3 different engine groups. The driveshaft between the transmission and the transfer case may need to be lengthened/shortened depending on difference in length of your 4-speed and the C6.

Yeah the C6 is coming from behind a 390 so they should bolt up just fine. Good point on the driveshaft part......I'll have to check with my buddy I'm getting the tranny from and see if he knows or possibly has one the right length.
