My 2004 F150 Lariat Scab has a lock on the tailgate, but it seems to be frozen (not due to cold weather). I looked in the manual and it says the ignition key should operate the lock, but no luck. I am thinking about taking the tailgate apart to see if there are some parts I can spray with WD-40 to try and loosen things up.
Anyone have suggestions or experiences to share? I have a Truxedo cover, so I'd like to be able to lock the tailgate when I have stuff in the bed.
I had that problem with my old 04 f250, but i took it back to the dealer under waruntee. they had to replace the guts. i never looked in to see what was wrong though. I thought they might have put the wrong keyed cyl when they build the truck myself.
