i am 17 years old and have THE only old ford truck in the lot at school...and with the ol reliable 300 6..there are a few chevys in town that i would just love to go bumper to bumer with..one is my girlfriends ex boyfriends late 90s s-10 (give ya a few guesses why) and the other is early 90s Z71 driven by a wanna be cowboy who just annoys the heck out of me haha...both of them have lights up the wazoo on them and very little engine upgrades if any at all besides a loud exhuast...the z71 sounds like it has a 305 (or the worst sounding 350 i have ever heard) and automatic and the s-10 with a v6 and auto with some off-road package...both are 4x4.....in our town the big desiel trucks are the cool thing but i would rather drive my 150 any day....my set up is and '86 F-150 with the 300 6, manual 4 speed granny gear 4x4....i am looking at that crane 503901 cam and a few other little things here and there but otherwise its all stock...i did replace the clutch last year so that should hold up and knuckles in the front end....my question is what are my chances of a win if i do get out the log chain? (i aint worried to much about the s-10 )
Oh, I first started reading I thought you was going to race them LOL
pulling contest I dont know, you said the S-10 has a V6 I would guess it has the 4.6 vortec, I have that in my S-10 blazer its a good motor but i dont think i would hook to my ford f-100 and try to pull it, you should have it easy.
the z71 is another story, if your both 4x4 tho... ugh I dont know. If you guys do it MAKE sure you get it on VIDEO and post, I would like to see that.
it depends on traction. its always about traction. you have good tires? lots of scrap iron in the bed? you may just win. i've beaten some larger, heavier trucks just because they couldn't drive. throw it in granny. you should beat the s10, the z71 is a heavy truck, and it will be close. it will depend on how good you are. let us know

First & fore most, you've to make Inliners BREATHE!
Offenhauser "C" w/ a 390 Holley 4v, & 2-into-2 Header.
I've the Intake & the Header if you're interested, P.M. me.
its time for a new set of tires on it. any suggestions? i want something good for mud and snow...(i do alot of bank busting)..i have done alot of pullin buddies out of tough spots and alot of off roading/ditch hoping myself but thats about it.....(these trucks can climb out of some insane ditches!).....i have a heavy duty ag hitch that will hopefully save my bumper some...your right if i agree to a pull the z71 i will want more weight in the bed....
I'm guessing since It's an 86, I'm guess it's EFI. I don't think you need to do anything to the motor, it makes awesome low end torque from the factory. The S-10 should be a cinch. It's gonna be pretty rough with the Z71, especially since it's an auto. I would start out by locking it in 4lo and hold the brakes. Let him start spinning and then just put it in first and let it bog. I think you should get him....make sure that you have someone record and then put it on here, I'd love to see it.
I really want to see this video, I don't have any suggestions about winning but if you play with your brakes like Mtthwvn73 suggests, I personally say to disconcet your brake lights, don't want to give away your secrets...... good luck though.
Man disconnecting your brake light is just playing dirty. When I was your age I put in a toggle switch to turn the brake and tail lights off. For Power brake burn outs (had a lock out on the rear brakes) And for out running the Cop's on dirt roads at night.
you asked for tire sugestions. I honestly am a fan of the "cheap" all terrains at walmart. They are the Uniroyal Liberators. For my tires (235-75-15) they are about $70 and handle very well in rough conditions. they seem to have decent tread life too. now if you want mud terrains, summit has BF Goodrich Mud Kings (not BFG mud terrains) at a decent price. they are almost identical to super swampers. Just my oppinion.
If we want to play cheap lower the air pressure in tires to, you just have to ask yourself, do you want to win OR do you want to WIN.
I agree better to put a toggle on, not discounect brake lights, then when you win flip the tail lights back on. I also suggest putting a toggle switch on cab lights, for getting away from the crime scene at nights. (If your truck has cab lights, people think it won't)
you could always install hydraulic line locks. you press and hold the brakes flip the lever and release the brakes. it' will hold the line pressure and you lights will be out. put it in 4 low and let out the clutch till it starts to engage. when his tires break loose, flip the lever and drop the clutch. then procede to drag the chevy trash around.

Yes a micro brake lock. Forgot about them. Didn't have them that I remember back in the day. LOL
