Converting to a C4
Tim
Well you'll need a few things..
If you can get an Early Bronco trans, this would be best...

Or if you get a 2WD car trans get a '70 and later, they have a 26 tooth input shaft spline count, they use a 26 spline, 10.5 " bolt circle (50441 - Ford - Tork Master 2400 for Ford ’70-’82 C4 (step case) 10.5” bolt circle, 26 spline, 1.375 crank pilot) torque converter..

If you get a car C4 you'll also need the intermediate housing and the tranny output shaft.

Also you'll need a trans cooler because your radiator is for a manual and doesn't have trans cooling line hook-ups.

You'll also need an Automatic trans spacer plate (one that goes between the engine and flexplate. (A junkyard part or you'll have to search the bronco sites.)
Also you'll need a starter for an Early Bronco. The manual ones have a different "snout" near the bendix, and won't bolt all the way in.
You'll also need an automatic tranny inspection/torque converter bolt access cover plate.

Also you'll need a kickdown rod, and an adapter to attach it to your carb.

Not to mention some type of floor shifter.

And don't forget the new flexplate. (I think I used this one...Very year dependent...50246 - Ford - Small block C4 with 157 tooth ring gear, 10.5" b.c. (for internally balanced engines). Also the correct attaching bolts.

Even though they give you just a core which would have to be rebuilt, I did it myself several times with this very specific, manual included, step by step B&M kit. (21045 - Ford - Ford C-6 '68-'91 Racing Overhaul Kit)
