Sounds more like air getting into the fuel system.

so my fix is as " simple" as finding the air leak and fixing that??
ive been considering putting compressed air in fuel tank to try and locate air leak..will this cause me any problems as long as i keeep pressure below 15-20 psi??

I'd think that 15-20 psi would be more than enough to damage your lift pump. I would disconnect the lines and plug the ends then try the compressed air.

This is pretty standard way of checking for leaks but dont go over about 30 to 35 inches of water.... you will blow your tank up..

Do you know the condition of your return lines or how old the o-rings on the filter assembly are? There are o-rings also in the plastic caps on top of each injector. If any of those are not air-tight, the fuel will bleed back out of the system.
