hmmm... not sure on this. might have a seperate fuse; if not, you're probably going to need to disconnect the batteries, wait 15 min to let everything power down, then remove the airbag and disconnect the terminals and tape them off or wire in your own switch.
why you removing it? I thought about removing mine so I could set a small lap top in there and use my map software on trips, but I was told that if there was an accident I am liable for its removal if my passenger is hurt??????
There is no easy way. Even if Ford makes a shutoff kit for your E150, which I doubt, you will have to get written permission from the federal government before your Ford dealer can install it.
I don't think there is any law that requires it to be there since I see vans all the time that don't have an airbag on that side at all. My 98 didn't have one. I thought about doing a tray there for a laptop but instead I purchased the correct panel and the electronic box and airbag and put it in. I do remember reading here somewhere where someone put the kill switch from the dealer into a truck but I can't remember how long ago that was. I believe the dealers give the switch away if requested just like seatbelt extenders which the also don't charge for.
Go ahead, it isn't the government you have to worry about, it's your insurance company, in an accident if your vehicle is said to have 2 airbags and one does not deploy due to being tampered with, they can refuse to pay the claim.
