i have a 05 e250, i need to turn off the passenger side air bag, ihave no switch on the dash, was the switch on the dash an option.is there an easy way to turn it off?
There is no easy way. Even if Ford makes a shutoff kit for your E250, which I doubt, you will have to get written permission from the federal government before your Ford dealer can install it.
I just dont understand why a 15 passenger van would have the shutoff switch and by 2 passenger work van does not.....I guess i could disconnect the sensor in the seat or just unplug the air bag
Seems to me that it should be a rule to provide a shut off for all two seat vehicles (work van, corvette, ect.), in the event that you have to transport an infant or small child. Airbag deployment can be worse than no restraint at all on passengers under a certain size/weight. This seems like a nobrainer to me, and it should be required. How much could a switch cost?
I need to turn it off so i can pick up my kid from daycare on my way home, i am just getting anoyed driving past it on my way home to pick up one of my trucks and drive back
Can you give me a reference page. I have the 05 E250 owner manual downloaded, 3rd printing, and cant find any reference to a deactivation switch. I also went into the PTS site for Ford technicians and went to the latest service manual for the 05 E250 and in the passive restraints section there is no mention at all of a passenger deactivation switch, or a remove and replace section, or failure code via the RCM module, No diagnostic trouble codes for the deactivation switch, no diagnostic routine for trouble shooting, or any listing of it as a component of the air bag system.
I have a 02 E-250 and need to turn off the passanger airbag for my kid's child seat. I am reading conflicting/confusing replies (maybe its just me!)
Anyway, do any of the "work" econolines have a turn off switch for the passanger airbag?
If not, Homerwinzlow, the link that you posted is now broken. Is there any other information out there on how to disengage the system or removal?
yeah i don't think you can unplug it it will beep and make a racket. I read this on a mustang forum and got flashback of when i tried to pull the kightbulb for the airbag light in the cluster instead of flash it beeped and this is a 94 i would hate to know what a newer one does
