Rear-end squeak
Sorry if this is a redundant question, but I searched all through the forum and didn't see where someone else answered this question. I have a '99 Explorer with 95,000 miles on it. Lately, I've noticed that the rear-end squeaks pretty loud particularly when going over a speed bump, but I can also hear it when I'm driving down a bumpy road. My question is could this be from worn shocks, or maybe worn bushings of some sort? As far as shocks go, the truck doesn't seem to wallow or have excessive float. I just bought this truck from my parents, so I probably should ask them if they ever replaced the shocks.

If you bounce the rear of the truck (when stopped, of course!
), do you hear the noise? If you do, spray some WD-40 on the shock rods. If the noise stops, you've found the problem. If not, spray one bushing at a time until (hopefully) the noise goes away. The last thing you sprayed is the culprit.Good luck!
