I'm ok with it. It's just a noise that appears to be normal.

Is this sound coming from the engine bay? If you open the hood and lightly step on the accelorator, do you hear the sound? Is this sound more of a gear "whine" or an air "whine"? If it is in the engine bay, it may be the air flowing around the throttle body. It may also be an air leak. Or even a vaccum leak. If it is in the differential, then the ring and pinon are more that likely making the noise, although it could be the bearings. I would think that if it were the ring and pinion being out of tolerance, you would hear the "whine" always.

It almost sounds like it's coming straight from the gas pedal. And it's an air leak kind of sound. It only happens for that first little 1/4" press of the pedal and it even happens when cruise control needs to give just a little bit of gas to stay at speed. I'd almost venture to say that it sounds like outside air is somehow getting into a small opening created when the leverage of the gas pedal is activated. I can make the sound last for as long as I want, granted I want to keep accelerating for that period of time. When the sound gets annoying, I either have to let off the gas or press my foot further down.

you are describing exactly what i'm experiencing. i'm going to check my air filter housing soon. if it's not that, then i don't know. i try to bs myself sometimes that i have a turbo charger in the hood and it's normal. haha. yeah, right.
