2002 f-350 diesel 4x4 7.3l. It stalls out a few times lately( and starts right back up) and it runs rough like there is an air bubble then smooths out. Changed 1 fuel filter and the pcv valve. 96,000 miles. Any ideas?
I have an older model 350 that is doing the same thing. Have been through 2 or 3 fuel filters, replaced the fuel pump and it has a new injector pump. If you figure out what it is I would appreciate it if you would let me know what it is. Ford Garage even hooked it up to a diagnostic machine and told me there wasn't anything wrong with it.
Mine was doing that...except after it died, it wouldn't start again for about 10 or 15 minutes and then would only run for about 10 minutes. That, they determined was a faulty cam position sensor...this was on a 2001 F-350 Diesel.
i recently had two similar problems one was the camshaft position sensor. my truck would cutt off just sitting there idling & then start right back up. i had it checked at the dealership & they were unable to figure it out until it finally threw a code. another time it would start vibrating & loosing power then shutting off while going down the road like it was running out of fuel.this went on for a few months.finally the truck wouldnt start back up.i still showed over 1/4 tank of fuel.the fuel sender in the tank had a crack & the truck was running out of fuel .
I see by the dates that this is old but here is my 2 cents. It most likely is the camshaft position sensor and as of summer of 2009 there was a factory recall and the dealer fixed ours - that was scary when it died on the freeway with a fully loaded 3 horse slant attached!
Thank You all so very much after reading your post and we had worked on truck for 3 days. I realized we did not get that recall fixed and went did that link that showed me how the cps was it whew Thanks again We never would have found it . Nothing showed up on the diagnostic meter and it just got worse and worse!! Thanks Again all of you for your post

I have been having very similar problems for days Been trying to figure out... fixed it today with (throttle position censor ). Replaced it easily it’s on the gas pedal just barely up under the dash 2 screws and unclip wire connection. Ford won’t sell you just the censor the want to sell you the whole throttle assembly for 500+$. In this case find one at an auto parts store ( after market part) Cost me 38$. Good luck 👍
