ihave a 95 7.3 5speed flat bed was doeing some reading about stacks 4inch to5 how much inside cab noise is there. this tymar air intake where does one buy one and what would help me in fuel savings
Slow down, thats the best I can do.
At 80mph I see close to 3k rpms and get about 15 mpg
At 70mph I am sitting right at 2500 rpms and get 18 mpg
Just imagine if we all drove around at 55 mph....... nah
The stacks are for pure entertainment only. I feel that unless you have the better injectors, chip, guages and black smoke, its just a waste of time, effort and money. Go with a bigger downpipe and get the Tymar intake. Most of my noise comes through the A/C air box at the firewall next to the turbo. I use a camper topper on my bed to get better airflow thus better gas milage, but I see you have a flat bed... Under our trucks is where alot of poor areodynamics happens as well which is part of the game of trucks.
I think I have the 4:10 gearing.
21-18 mpg at 70 mph at 2000 rpm
There are no power adders that will result in higher milage even if you keep your right foot out of it IMO. Intake and exhaust mods will not give better milage, they will just support any power adders you decide to on. But that's no fun either
according to an article I just read;
§ Every 2% reduction in aerodynamic drag results in approximately 1% improvement
in fuel economy.
§ Above 55 mph, each 1 mph increase in vehicle speed decreases fuel economy by 0.1 mpg.
§ Worn tires provide better fuel economy than new tires, up to 7% better fuel economy.
§ Used lug drive tires can get up to 0.4 mpg better than new lug tires.
§ Ribbed tires on the drive axles provide 2–4% better fuel economy than lugged tires.
§ Every 10 psi that a tire is underinflated reduces fuel economy by 1%.
§ The break-in period for tires is between 35,000 and 50,000 miles.
§ Tires make biggest difference in mpg below around 50 mph; aerodynamics is the most important factor over around 50 mph.
§ The most efficient drivers get about 30% better fuel economy than the least efficient drivers.
§ Idle time is costly. Every hour of idle time in a long-haul operation can decrease fuel efficiency by 1%.
You could just ride a moped. And if you do that, you will not be needing your truck anymore so you can just give it to me.
The only way to go is MORE POWER. Remember fuel just cost money, and your always going to make some more.
