E-450 V10

I'm looking at new class c motorhomes with the V10 and it looks like they all have the 2 valve but they do have the 5 speed auto. Does anyone know if the 3 valve will make it into the E-450 in the future?

There seems to be an issue with air flow and keeping the 3v engine cooled under the dog cage in a E-Series. However the 2v engine is quite strong and does an amazing job on my Jayco Class C 31'

To get the 3v V10 you need to look at F53 chassis based Motor coaches

I doubt the 3 v will ever make it into a E series chassis.... too many changes and the street vans do not need the added towing hauling capacity even if the motor coach upfitters could definitely benefit from the added grunt

That all said... for years the running gear and gearing of the Class C "E" series based RVs have been very reliable and able powered machines as Long as you load it out reasonably ...... they are NOT suited to dinghy tow a heavy vehicle or boat and trailer

There are some pics on the Internet of the new E-series with a 2008 "Super Duty" looking front-clip. I wonder if the 3V V10 will be able to fit in the new nose?

Have you seen the XL model pickup? It takes ugly to an all-new level. I'd drive a Dodge before I drove a new Ford XL model.

I talked to a Ford dealer Monday about the three valve V10 in a RV cutaway. Not available in 07 but he thought it would be in 08. May have just been blowing smoke.

I think what he really meant was that he had no clue what he was talking about (lol) Kidding , But I hope he is correct its time for a upgrade on the cutaway.

The 3v V10 was NOT a direct bolt in to the F series or the F53 chassis

They totally redesigned the fire wall, subtle differences in the frame mounting location, and massive changes to electronics, harnesses and locations for major assemblies including fuel management and vapor control

All of these changes were primarily to compete in the Tow/Haul capacity wars all the big three are always in

The E series vans are not designed for max tow/haul capacity with the exception of the conversions or "cut away". Unfortunately the E series diverted to those usage are less then 10% of the production run. That is why I seriously doubt the E series will ever get the 3v V10.

If Ford (currently bleeding like a stuck hog) ate the cost of the reconfiguration just for added power to 10% of the line, then the other 90% of the line would suffer sales as most buyers opt for the base V8 motor and usually shy away from the V10 as a fuel pig or perception it is a racing motor... Stuffing a 3v V10 in it would make that dynamic worse not better for a majority of fleet sales

But speaking of money losses. How much sense does it make to contiue to produce 2 V10 variations? They obviously got all the parts for both. (C'mon, really...how much can it really cost to redesign a firewall?) Both retailed for the same price. Why carry both? I certainly don't have all the info but on the surface it looks foolish.

The 2V 6.8 V-10 is plenty of power in a mini motorhome. I have a 2004 29' Winnebago Mini -Winnie and the power is fine.....I get about 9 to 10 MPG on the road at 13K in weight.

With all the 2-valve industrial motors, and the E-series, that's a whole crap-pile of 2-valvers still being produced.

I kinda agree with the thought that "who needs a 3-valve in an e-series?"

A little PO'd because you couldn't get the 3-valve in an Excursion?
