How did the electric fans help out? how much air do they flow (cfm)? did you have to upgrade anything on the vehicle first to do it? Any other tips woudl be appreciatted thinking about doing it to both vehicles.
Sorry for the delayed response. I think that the e-fans helped out quite a bit as far as mileage and throttle response goes. I installed the fan on my truck in September of 2006 so I never really had a chance to use the AC during the hot summer days to see how well it cools but I have a feeling that it will be just as good as the stocker.
I used transmission cooler zip tie style mounts to mount it directly to the radiator. The kit I have is by Hayden and it came with the relay and temp sender to plug into the radiator fins. Mounting was a little tricky as I had to make sure there was clearance between the fan and water pump pulley where the old fan was mounted. I can try and get some pictures this weekend when I can get to the truck (its in storage for this summer).
Just finished a 1060 mile drive in 97 MM 5.0L/302 with 104K on the clock.
Mileage Calcs:
308 mi - 18.019 mpg - all highway
208 mi - 18.648 mpg - all highway
139 mi - 13.976 mpg - about 1/2 miles was city driving
325 mi - 18.957 mpg - all highway
--------------------
1060 mi - 17.777 mpg average
I'll have to say that I get 13 city/18 highway just like I always have.
