Someone need to add to the article that the cat or the driveshaft needs to be dropped in order to get at the pan and valve body...detailed instructions of that! That's where I got stuck...
Nope...I took to a shop...they are doing it for around $300...they have "supposedly" done it before and it kind of sounded like it...hopefully it works. I'll find out when I pick it up today.

Hey all, i have 2002 Mountaineer 4.0L V6 4x2 with 97k miles. Its been taken real good care of. But all the things I have been reading about this tranny have made me worry. I just bought the vehicle as the new family car seein how we needed 4 doors. Im not sure if the tranny is starting to try and mess up but what i am noticing is this scenario: " Put my foot on the brake and go from Park to Reverse(usually smooth operation occasionally it feels like the shifter is kind of binding) but then i go from Reverse to Drive and let my foot off it engages very hard and noticeable, the word "slam" into gear is a bit much but its getting close to slamming. Any ideas, is my tranny geting ready to go out?
