Ok so i ordered the brand new turbo upgrade from ATS and installed it about two weeks ago, got a boost gauge in today and i could only get 5psi of boost when throttle was hammered down , empty load, is this where it should be or should i adjust the wastegate? If so how do i adjust the wastegate?
I know in the instructions it tells you that it is set to 7.5 max psi at a certain altitude above sea level, i have noticed i can only get it to about 5psi when throttle is wide open in any gear, i'll double check everything again but i'm pretty sure i don't have any leaks anywhere
Stock was only around 5-6 psi, they say max needed it 7-8. The wastgates are sometimes tricky. They were staked at the factory and have been known to break when you first try to turn the rod. They say remove the actuator and gently remove the rod and then run a tap on the threads to clean them up. Then add another nut for a lock. Mark it where it was and then screw it in about 4 threads further. If it breaks, cut 4 threads off the end and weld it back together.
Yes pyro is hooked up i've seen temps get as high as 900-1000* but no higher when going up hill throttle down all the way empty truck, but SPEC should i turn the wastegate up and see if that works, the other feller up there said to not touch the wastegate, so i don't know what to do, i don't want to break anything
When you pull a load you will likely see higher EGT's, but a 1000 flatland sounds safe. I don't like to push it past 950 on mine as I rather err on the side caution. From what I have oinread the limit is about 15psi or 1100 degrees. Like I said I run 900-950, but I get 13-14 psi of boost. I could run more fuel, but I don't want any more boost.
