I have a Jenny 760c that's way past antique status, and has a problem- While it pumps water fine, the burner won't light, and sometimes it trips the GFCI outlet when I switch on the solvent mixer.
Does anybody here have any experience with these, or info on how to test the burner system?
BTW, the serial number is 14228, to help with the correct info on it.
The ones Ive used had a water level sensor and temp guage sensor that controled the burner, When the water drops to certain point it starts to refill sorta like a tolet tank and at the same time the gas fired heater comes on. Make sure the pilot is working . It may or may not have a micro switch to ativate the burner, If the pump is ran by an electric motor maybe when a load is placed on it the power switch kicks it off.
I had some time to check this thing out a bit more, and I think it predates most of that stuff. No thermocouple, no water level sensor, no trigger either. The only things that go to the burner are a fuel line and ignitor cable.
I did find some water in the ignitor cable connections, and I plan on pulling the burner out tomorrow to see if the ignitor is fouled or if the burner is plugged, and if the burner is actually getting fuel.
This thing predates the triplex pump, it's got this goofy looking pulley moving a connecting rod that operates two plunger pumps, the side tank that it draws water from with the float and fill valve, and a split tank for solvent and fuel. As far as I can figure, it dates from the late 60s or early 70s, maybe before then.
try cleaning the fuel screens. You might have a short in your ignitor box. Jenny still sells the parts to the steam cleaner, and some places locally carry parts for the unit too.
Why? It's the diesel fired version, not the gasoline one.
I haven't had a chance to get back to it yet, I've been busy trying to put my Subaru engine back together, and get the new heads on the Galaxie.
yep i would clean all the burner parts that you can. clean the igniter electrode with sandcloth, soak parts in mineral spirits to loosen any grime out of nozzel . blow em dry re assemble an see if that helps. let us know.
