have a 99 ranger pickup from up north the salt did a number on brake drums i am unable to turn star wheel at all. the drums will not come off any ideas
If they are rusted to the axel, you may have to use a torch and heat around the center to make it come loose. Use a large screwdriver around the outside while heating around the center.
the drums are loose but i guess they have a little lip inside that will not allow the drum to slip over shoes. i cannot turn the star wheel at all it is rusted up. thought about loosening bleeder valve and pryng on drums to see if shoes will go in.
Thanks
For this problem i just cut the head off of the shoe retaining pins.
Not a bad idea, I used to just pry them off and let the springs fly! Hopefully you know how it all goes back together, not real hard since it is a Bendix system that been around since like what the 50's?
