Question EGT's Too High?

Hi all just a stupid queston. With my DP tuner on the 80econo setting at a 20mph roll I showered down on her and boost went to 26psi and EGT's climbed to 1300 then backed down to 900 before I needed to slow down. Everything I have read here says nothing above 1200. Am I doing any harm when it climbs above 1200 for just a couple of seconds before it drops?
The engine light came on as soon as I hit 24-25 psi boost so I am pretty sure the boost set the engine light.

You should be fine with a healthy engine and clean oil that circulates properly. Remember, stockers have no provision to watch temps and can often get there towing as supposedly designed to do. Of course this is where most of the damage can be done but with gauges, short bursts should be fine.

Well I have had my DP Tuner since last July (06) and finally just got my guages in during christmas. I did not run her hard untill I got my guages and today was the first day I could pour on the coals and see what she would do. Seeing the temp climb up to 1300 and boost hit 26psi was impressive!!!

I don't see an exhaust system in your sig. That's probably why your temps are climbing so fast.

Anywho, getting that hot for a few seconds at a time is ok. I've done it at the race track, and there's plenty of other folks who make a habit of it. It's the extended periods of high heat that will kill your engine fast.

Get an exhaust, and that will help quite a bit.

Ive never hit 1300 empty. Ive hit 1500 on the Donnors pass but with a heavy heavy trailer. Stock I cant even peg 1000 unless the backpressure valve malfunctions, then she wont move past 95mph. Even at 113mph my temps were under 1000.

I run well past 1500 when playing... The key is heat soak... If your pulling and running 1100 for hours it will only take a few second to damage something (10 give or take) but if your empty, messing around it will take a long time to heat soak anything into the danger area.
