They ought to be fine, just give em a visual inspection before using them. 170K, I think I'd go with new ones. It's really hard to say when, the ones in my Ranger's 5.0 have unknown mileage on em. I know they have more than 100K, but couldn't tell you how much more than that. I've had a few sets from a few engines over the past 6-7 years, I don't recall what motor they came from They don't seem to be ready to quit anytime soon either.

yea I would think they would work. I did reuse my old lifters in my trans am with 50k and had one go bad but I am also running 400 pounds of spring pressure. hahaha. should of known better. The stock springs should be ok shouldn't they?
Yea. I've got Crane's roller springs(44308-1) running on the F4TE in my Ranger though. I did that back when I had a B cam running with the heads though. The stock rollers act as my rev limiter, they bounce off the cam lobes at 5500-6000. Got stock rod bolts and unknown rods in the shortblock (reman shortblock) so I really didn't want to spin it faster anyway.

haha, yea. I spin the trans am up to 6700 with no problems but it's just a little differant.
