Okay, looking at my picts of my truck as I tore it down, it looks like you can push out the frame close to 6" on each side at the cab. It also looks like my '46 inner fenders were bolted to the frame rail.

So looking at the '40 frame it might be that almost all of the inner fender might actually be outside of the frame rail. As Fix said the front of the frame is 28" but it looks like the frame tapers quickly to 44" while the widest the frame is on the '46 (in front of the cab) is 34" -- more complicated but managable.

M998, If you do try this you will have to let us all know how it all worked out, it sounds like others have wanted to do this. Good luck.

here is a friends 46 with a 40 nose. I don't remember that he had any problems bolting it up. But with the dual leaf spring front axle in front it sat real high.

I figured it could be done. It looks like a good fit on that truck. I wish I could see it close up.

Now that M998 brought this up, I really want to see what it takes to change one over.

I kind of like the 46 front clip, but I know there are lot of people who prefer the 40/41 style. This could be a way to make more of the 40/41 body style than are actually out there.

I'll have to look closer at the 40/41 trucks I see in the future (just to make sure).

that's not too much higher than they sat stock anyways...if it is higher.

Truck also has has something done in the rear...looks like early 30's or older rear fenders?

Its a home built bed and fenders.

year before last he put an S10 chassis under it, some stock rear fenders, SBC with a blower and 2 fours and no hood. It looks scary to drive now.
