sun visor switches

I am on my fifth super duty but this is the first with these. There are three little switches on the interior sun visors. It has a small led that lights up when you touch them. The owners manual has nothing about them in it. The company I work for has a grand marquis and it has them too but no information in its manual either. Any ideas what they are for?

Maybe for a garage door opener?

Possibaly. I had never seen these before and with no instructions in the owners manual it has me stumped.

Yeah its a universal programable remote. gates, garage doors etc.

rough instructions to program:

press and hold the desired button and the button on the gate or garage opener hold both for about 1-2 minutes. the visor light will start to blink slow then fast then stop after that you are done.

Dual purpose . . .

Dude, it is called Homelink. It has two basic purposes. The three buttons are for three different openers; garage doors, electronic gates, etc.

Also the the middle button acts as a recorder. You can leave yourself a message on it while driving and coming up with an idea. Like, Hey, I forgot to get the scotch today. So you press the middle button and say "I forgot to get scotch today." or "I just invented diesel from a gallon of H2O."

Here is the website to get detailed directions on use. You have an '08 as the rest of the F250 family can't order it. You could get it on the F150's but thru '07 it was not a factory oem option. I got it in my mirror as a dealer upgrade.

Yep definitely the homelink. Depending on your garage door opener it can be very easy or very hard to program. The first thing to do is change the batteries in the opener you are trying to program it with. I spent an hour fighting with mine before I decided to try this and it turned out the batteries weren't strong enough for the system to learn the signal. It was not available in the earlier Super Duties like Lonewolf said, but I added it to mine. Not the easiest thing to do, but it can be done. I got a little too frustrated doing mine and now the material around the mirror is a little screwed up, but not too bad. I've been meaning to do a write-up on it but haven't had the chance yet.

With it being available in the 08's I wonder if a guy could buy an 08 visor and put it in an earlier version?
