Nice job, maybe cut large holes in the top of the plastic box so air gets in and water has a tougher time, w/ a few slits in the bottom to let drain any H2O that does get in . . .
Mr. Sandman, looks like you already have the correct wire. My truck was also an '04, and I had the switch set up exactly as you are describing. Just hook up that blue wire that you had a pic of to the input of a spdt switch. One of the outputs continues on through the blue wire, and with the switch in the other position it will provide the grounding for a relay to activate the air horns. The positive for the relay comes from a switched power source. Normally you use a switch to control the +, but in this case you use it to switch the ground to complete the circuit.
TexasA&M, I also had my compressor in a box, although it was in a modified heavy duty battery box from a marine supply shop. I did a set up for my uncle though, and he didn't want to take the time to customize a box for it. His has been just hanging out in the elements for several years now and hasn't had any problems.
.... I just dug through and found some pics of the switches, wiring, and compressor box I had set up for my truck. Check my gallery.
Just got around to re-wiring my setup. I tapped into the yellow wire with green tracer for the hot 'switch' wire going into the relay. Now it works perfectly. Regular horn when truck isn't running, or the #3 switch is off. Air horn when #3 switch is on. Overall, very pleased with the setup!
I finished mine today as well by wiring one wire from the solenoid to constant hot and the other to an on off switch and then the blue horn/ground wire. It works great...with the switch in the off position only the stock horn sounds and with it in the on position they all sound...loud! Thanks everyone for your assistance and advice. Pics in my gallery soon.
PS, will someone please pull out in front of me now!
