I usually hang out in the 1948-1960 section but I thought I should post here. I got a Autolite 4100 that needed to be rebuilt so I looked into kits to get for it and found that the C2SZ-9A586 directly from ford was the one to get. So I got it last week and sat down tonight to put it together. I looked at it and tore the plastic off the box (the one that says it cannot be returned if its been broken) and I start in. I shortly find out that there is no Secondary Diaphram It is kinda an important part that I need, other than that the kit is complete
Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I just have to wait till tomm and check in with ford when they are open and see if they can make things right. If not I have no Idea what I'm going to do because I don't want to spend $39 on another kit!
Well I just had to vent because it ruined my night, or if anyone has a Diaphram for a 4100 laying around I may need one.
Well as an update Ford ordered a new kit in for me and it didn't have the secondary Diaphram either. So the parts guy started to call up higher authority and was told that since that secodary doesn't come in direct contact with the fuel it is no longer included in the kit. Ford then checked and they cannot get it ordered seperate. it can be gotten online fopr $17 plus shipping. But Ford was reallly nice and credited me back my $39 and I was able to find a COMPLETE kit outta Canada for $35 with shipping, it specifically said the diaphram was included. so next week I'll know if it really is "complete". BUt sad news is there is no starting up of my '55 truck for the first time since I owned it. I'll have to wait another 2 or 3 weeks before I can get back at it.
Well I got a new kit and last weekend Hooked up most of the new wiring, I got it to turn over and now I just need spark (bad coil I think). I got the carb rebuilt and ready to bolt on. I can't wait until tomm just 6 hours of work and 215 miles left till I can start.
