Holley list 6947 lookin for rebuild kit

i cant seem to find any info on teh holley site for this carb, i dont know what year the carb came off , was told a 70s van 351w.

so here goes
d5te-9510-ea
list 6947
1836
4100 is stamped into one of the metering blocks (dont know if thats the proper name for the piece, the piece between the body and bowl)
I have read on the net something about Autolite 4100 but nothing about holley 4100 are they the same. my carb has holley stamped in big letters on both bowls.
I bought a kit from napa 2-5637 it says rebuild for 4150,4160, 3150. So i took the carb apart, but the powervalve is completely different. I dont want to open the kit incase the gaskets are different too. Did holley change the powervalve. the powervalve in my carb has threads on both ends. altho the end that sticks outinto the bowl doesnt thread into anything of course..
The ford dealer here said they cant do anything for a rebuild kit. I did manage to help them track down a part number for the powervalve ce-105 (ford part number according to an old book they had.) but they want 49 dollars for it, and there is only 3 left in canada.

What model carb do i have, cfm?
I have an email to holley tech as well.

I bought the napa kit a year and half ago, just got around to installin it now. i hope it works because they wont take the kit back, its still sealed and i have my receipt but they said it was too long.

If anyone has nay info i would appreciate it. thanks.

Sounds like a 4180 maybe. It is off of a 75 Ford truck of somekind. Probably a 460, I don't think that 351W's had 4bbls back then. It should be a 600cfm and you should be able to get a kit by using the D5TE-9510-ea

Holley carburetor list 6947

The Holley 4-bbl list #6947 is a production unit originally installed on '75 or '76 Ford trucks with the 390 FE motor, rated at 600 CFM. Although it is based on the common Holley 4160, there are many differences that prevent you from using a universal Holley kit- different power valve (as you noticed), different throttle body-to-main body gasket, etc. It also uses an odd secondary diaphragm, with a shorter rod than the regular 4160 replacement you'll find at the local discount store. The carburetor will not work properly if any of these parts are wrong!

The 6947 is specifically tuned for the 390 motor, with close-limit main jets (#612) and secondary metering plate #41. If you have a '70s 390 motor, it should work very well on it. Look for Holley kit # 3-1012 or Hygrade Jiffykit #933B, although the base gasket they put in the Hygrade kit does not cover the PCV valve passage on the bottom of the throttle body- be sure to use another one that does. Use secondary diaphragm #135-2; Holley still makes them but it may be special order from your local speed shop. I recommend the Holley brand power valve check ball kit (where you drill the hole and install the spring and ball) because the original power valve control system uses a calibrated orifice and a bleed-off through the primary throttle shaft; one of the replacement screw type power valve blow-out preventers will likely upset this system when you plug off the calibrated orifice! Watch the washers and o-rings on the balance tube, the washers are easy to lose and they'll leak if you put the wrong o-ring on.

Just finished building one of these if you have any questions.

Cool. I spent some time tuning this carb on the truck; I was able to speed up the secondary opening time quite a bit without ill effect (use a sharp philips screwdriver to knock a cross into the secondary check ball seat, deeper dents=more vacuum past the ball=faster opening.) I think it could use a size or two larger accel. pump squirters but I have not yet changed them- takes a bit more choke to keep it from popping back into the intake when cold compared to other carburetors I've used on this truck. It is fine when warmed up a bit, flies through emissions, has good power, idles smoother, and starts much better after sitting for a while than the old Motorcraft 4 BBL. I haven't done any long trips yet to check the mileage.
