Question Where do I stand?

engine has a shake to it at exactly 1200 rpm's in nuetral, parked. Does it with or with out the chip. It has done this since i bought the truck about two years ago. Winter is a reminder that it still does it when it high idles. Runs just fun at 1200 rpms when driving. No smoke, blue, white, black. No codes. Ive never thought about complaining about this becuase the truck shows no sign of troubles when driving. Just thought i'd let you guy's think about this one.

btw -had it buzzed /ct tested over the summer eveything checked out good and the hpop #'s were within spec.

Its a shake. With the hood popped i can see the engine rocking about a 1/4 inch either direction when its high ideling. Knock it down from high idle the 1/4 inch rock is non existent. WIth the wife in the drivers seat she can rev it above 1200 rpm's in nuetral and the rock disapears. Only at 1200. It doesnt have a miss and i don't hear any wierd injector noises while its doin it.

It's an injector. Personal experience on this one. Exact same symptoms as my truck before I replaced them and even after I put in the new ones that I got from Beans.
#4 failed a contribution test by about 12% at idle. Replaced that one and now it's smooth as glass.

If you have a way of measuring contribution, that is a very easy way to nail it down on what injector to pull.
It was very obvious for me. #4 was reading a much higher % of RPM drop at idle compared to the other 7.

Another thought, If it was a bad wiring harness would the shake occur all the time?

How hard is it to check the IPR nut, that can come loose? I'd like to run out and check it if it's not that bad. I've been in the valley of my engine a million times and cant remember seeing a shiny brass nut. Any pics of its location?

I agree with KWIK. It's most likely an injector. That's what mine did as well. You can buy a NEW injector for $200. Ford sells a reman for $300+.

ok my IPR is not shiny anymore (99) but i found it anyway. I disconncted the two prong connector and found that the plastic piece that the two **** connector went in wiggled around on the IPR. I disconnected it any way and then proceeded tolook for a nut to tighten. I felt around the back of the IPR and in the center of it was something I could turn by hand. If this is the nut , How do I tighten it. What tool do I need to tighten it.

Am I on the right track?

Ok i think I have bad news. In the center of the IPR I can now see something that is silver and threaded. Tell me that is where the nut was supposed to be. I do not see a nut in the valley but i do remember finding something in there about a years ago when i replaced my pedistal o-rings. Other than that if you have a pic of the actual nut i'm supposed to be tightening I might be able to diagnose this a lttle better.

The brass nut on the end is what need tightening, cant remember the size but a regular socket will get it. Torque it to 53 in/lbs

I don't think this is your shaking problem though this would cause it all the time not at a certain RPM. Kwik and Fat have you on the right track a CCT and Buzz test should reveal the problem.

Ok the brass nut on the end (19mm) threads onto the IPR (skinny little silver threaded thing). Got it-mine was tight.

Still a little concearned at how loose the plastic female end coming off the IPR is loose but i will not worry about it unless you think it is an issue.

I think I do have an injector issue and I will confirm this with an CT test.

One more thing before I pay for a CT test. Where is the 42 pin connector and how do I Check it?
