Sounds like a diesel but it's not.

All Caps edited out by administration

When idling,my 96 Bronco Xlt sound like a diesel and it's not.
Also noticed a liquid dripping out of the exhaust pipe.
Since I am a girl I like to know what I might be in for so I don't get taken advantage of at a garage.

Does anyone have a clue to what's wrong ?

My truck did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I don't really know what was wrong with it, but I had a clogged exhaust, my firing order was off, and I had to adjust the timing - now it runs great!

Sounds like a diesel but it's not.

1) A badly out of tune vehicle sounds sort of like a diesel.

2) A small amount of liquid coming from the tailpipe while the
vehicle is warming up is normal.

3) A bad rod bearing sounds sort of like a diesel and would only
show up at idle (at first, until it got really bad).

Start by making sure your engine is properly tuned.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Oct-02 AT 09:26 PM (EST)]You might want to check your exhaust manifold. Mine has a hairline crack and sounds just like a diesel. Bronco's , from what I'm told by a Ford mechanic, tend to all get a cracked manifold after time.
He said its not going to kill the truck or hurt it, but it should be fixed.

Water out tailpipe.

Normal condensation and warming up cold metal.
This is normal > if there was white smoke coming out > shut it off.

Diesel sounding HUH?

Possibly a water pump or power steering pump making that noise.
Sometimes the water pump on my truck makes a rattling noise.
