how do i check to see if the injector is not able to keep up?
A cylinder contribution test. See which one has the greatest % of RPM drop - that's the bad one. You'll see normal readings of 1% or less. You'll feel a 1% as a very slight rocking sensation at idle.
Most injectors, I have found, will give themselves away at the cold idle warmup. You'll have nearly a dead miss at 1100 rpm and the engine will rock like it's missing.
When i did the CCT, it came up with 0% - 1% on all cylinders except number one which was at 5%. Alan suggested switching the soledniod off of #1 to #3 and see if the % changes. If so that injector is bad. It does have the rocking sensation at idle. Well i guess i added one more item to do tommorrow.

It was actually a little higher than that, i did a punch of tests today in my post named codes, i got almost 6% on that number one injector today and 1% on another one with an 1298 IDM failure code. I did a KOER engine contribution and it said cylinder number 1 injector failure.
how hard is it to replace the carrier bearing? where is a good place to get them. i have a vibration that started out with just a little and now it is getting pretty bad from 30-40mph
I replaced it a few weeks back, when the vibration started because that was my first impression on what it could have been. I even shimmed it down and it did help on the start off vibration but not the one at 45-70. Could the driveshaft be out of balance? I do not understand what could cause it to act like this. Another thing i noticed, but it could be in my head, is when i put the truck in gear from a start, and let my foot off the brake from a dead stop the truck seems to be bouncing forward now, instead of taking off smoothly. I do not rememeber if it was always like that or not because i had the take off vibration because of a bad carrier bearing and it was not shimmed down. Any help at all is appreicated since im pretty close to giving up on this vibration and taking it to a shop to try and find it. It has been giving me hell for a month now and i have not found the problem.
This may be grasping at too simple of an explination, but when you said that it bounces forward it sounded like the hubs aren't dis-engaging and it is doing the "Binding Hop". I don't know if you have a 4X4, but it would sure vibrate if the front end is engaged. Just a thought.
