Best Way for 3.5" down pipe ???

A buddy of mine just got a DP Tuner for his 97 7.3 and Jody said that he needed the 3.5" downpipe. I know an exhaust kit may come with one but if he just wanted the bigger down pipe, whats the best way? Could a muffler shop pull that off or could one be bought from a FTE Sponsor?

Using just the 3.5" downpipe, and mating it with the 3" stock exhaust may not be the right way to go about this... A full 3.5" to 4" system may be what he needs. I know http://www.tjdieselperformance.com (although not a sponsor) will sell individual parts. They've impressed me, as well as a few friends I know.

I know that the whole exhaust system would be better but Jody had said that he def. needed the down pipe

The main problem with the old body style DP is it is flattened out. Your buddy would even be much better off with a 3" DP from a '99 or newer. They can be had for cheap too. If I still had mine I'd give it to you, but it's long gone.

What CSIPSD said... I'd bet that Jody meant or actually recommended a 3" downpipe, not a 3.5" downpipe. The OBS trucks' stock downpipe is a squished, flat, pita-bread shaped excuse for a "pipe" - a 3" pipe will fit in okay without modding the fire wall. It really is a good idea to install a 3" downpipe in place of the pancake pipe in the OBS trucks, whilie our Superduties already have a 3" downpipe.

I understand that this requires using the Major Adjustment Tool, B.F.H., but definitley not a job for L.F.H. minor adjustment tool.

The truck came stock with the 3"DP. Did u get a turbo back exhaust? Most often any aftermarket exhaust will come with a 4"DP or larger on the 99+superduty.
