A person at work posted an ad for tools and toolboxes for sale for $500 that I'm considering buying. Here's the ad and some pics:
I have three toolboxes for sale: A multi-drawer box on wheels, with a second (chest) toolbox that sits on top. There is also a separate cabinet with shelves and two drawers. All three are lockable, and all three contain tools of various types, including (but most certainly not limited to):
Complete Craftsman and Mac wrench sets
Socket sets, including deep-well sockets.
Multiple types of screwdrivers
Multiple pliers and clamps
Drill bits of all shapes and sizes
Some corded drills (two, I think)
Flood lamp
Et al.
There are also specialty tools, such as a 20-lb. adjustable wrench. For all three boxes, and all the tools inside, I am asking $500.
Is it worth it do you think? They look kind of beat up to me...
Thanks!

Thats a tough call. Looking at the pics. It doesn't look like they were cared for. Sounds like the guy is hurting for money. I'd offer $350.00 If the box was in better condition I would go a little higher. JMO
Seems reasonable to me, that`s barely the price of the empty tool boxes here in Canada so to me the tools are free.
For that kind of money I wouldn`t waste his time, I`d take them if the tool sets are complete and what I needed.
Where is this stuff at, my wife is saying to buy it.
Yeah, that stuff is easily worth that much. I have about twice as much tool-wise, and well in excess of $5k invested.
here's a thought. take $500 and go to your tool store and try to buy all those tools and boxes...never going to happen these days. as our illustrious leader FOMOCO1 said...we couldn't even get the boxes here for 500...
If you buy it, and it contains lifetime warranty handtools, you may be able to trade them in for new ones provided they were not abused. Craftsman and Husky are the two names that come to mind as honoring lifetime stuff. Count the main tools and do the math--does it work out to be $0.50 per tool? Or whatever?
