Thumbs up Junk Yard Day March 18th

If any of you are in town on this day you are more then welcome.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT

The next special event for Pickups Limited of Orange County will be a Junk Yard Day. Yes, it's a guy thing but the ladies can come along too if they want. Any excuse to pillage the piles of discarded automobile carcases is a good one but what about the rest of you? Could this be the first time? Bring your tools and big pockets!

WHEN: Sunday March 18th
WHERE: Ecology Center on Imperial Highway in Santa Fe Springs
TIME: 9:00am
COST:
FREE
I have enough passes for everybody
BREAKFAST SPOT? You bet. Meet at Bernie's on Harbor Bl. at Imperial Highway - right across the street from Giovanni's - I will be there around 7:30am

Ecology Center? Is that the one between Carmenita and Meyer Rd? If so, I grew up about a mile north of there on Leffingwell. I know exactly where it is.

Ed,
Why don't you find something to do north or way east of LA? Us country boys have trouble with the LA traffic. Last time I was down there I got so lost I pulled off the freeway to locate myself, and felt I needed a detachment of the horse cavalry to escort me out of the area!

Junk Yard Day - that is an idea we should copy. Anyone know a friendly junk yard? Is there any in Northern California?

My local yards are both very friendly and have a lot of bumpsides and newer, as well as some interesting old stuff dating back to the '30s. Bad idea for the middle of winter though as they both turn into a giant mudhole, the one closest to being the worst of the two in that respect. They have cars in some areas of the yard that are inaccessible after a heavy rain because they're sitting in a foot or more of water (hope you don't need any electronics off of those babies!)

So maybe we could plan something like that up here for the springtime, sort of a weekend camping/fishing/parts pulling thing...

Sounds like a plan. Makes me wish it was spring already. Of course, I hope to have the Ranger by then so that would be cool then I would not need to worry about the gas mileage. (I see our local gas stations are raising their prices again. Up to 2.70 a gal now)

Yeah Jim, I wish it was Spring to so I could get my truck too. Once I have it though, I think a trip up to Dan's area would be great. I could use a seat, hood, trim, trim pieces... and many other things to spend money on. How about late May early June?

That would be perfect for me. I don't know what parts I would find but I am sure there will be something there to spend my money on

Yeah, sometimes it seems this state is just a little too long...

You guys seem to have some good plans for events and it would be fun to join in from time to time, but it gets tough to justify an 8-hour drive to do so...

I take it the desert thing for this weekend didn't pan out? (Since you're here...)
