Yes Nav is an option on the Lariat...Nav w/prem sound $1875 Not available on the xlt. The way I understand I can get turn by turn with SYNC
There was talk in another thread that the navigation was not an option on the 2012's yet. I know starting in 2011 it was confined to Lariat and above trim levels (why I am not sure) and it is also mostly prevalent in the Lariat Ultimate package (which is why I had such a hard time getting one - didn't want the moon roof that is in the Ultimate package). The way I understood it was that the navigation system was not going to be offered at the start up of 2012's for what ever reason. I think it has something to do with changing the system and also the earthquake in Japan limiting resources, but that's just a guess.
Navigation is available for order on MY12 Super Duty. However, the order will be placed in a "unscheduled - material hold" status until Ford is ready to start scheduling those units. At this point Ford is saying "fall availability" and/or TBD. Latest possible/unofficial timeframe I have heard is November...
Navigation is only available for order in Lariat and KR trim levels. Not available on XLT trim. This is the same as MY11...
The material hold on Autumn Red should be lifted soon, if it has not been already, with production beginning sometime in August...

The Ford NAV radios are made in Japan by Clarion. I have (had) one in my truck and replaced it with a Garmin based after market radio (Kenwood DNX9980HD). My opinion: Not worth waiting for the Ford Nav radio...

Have heard a lot of those thoughts....
Is it a 1for1 replacement and looks like oem? We have garmins in the 3 cars and like. I wanted the nav for the big screen backup camera.
Thoughts?
i like the ford nav unit...one of the best if not the best OEM unit I have ever had in a vehicle...i've had all the major american brands with OEM units.

None of them are great, IMO and I've had nearly a dozen different double din nav units in various vehicles over the years. The OEM unit's appeal to me was the integration with the other functionality. They all rely on maps provided by a third party and unless you amplify the output signal the audio is just so-so.
I had a Pioneer AVIC D3 in my 2006. The factory unit is head and shoulders better than that. There are probably 100 things that the unit does besides navigation and I rarely use Nav so I'm more than happy with it.
