ok guys, previous post i listed about my a/c problem, air would come out all same temp, kinda warm, but definitley not hot or cold.. checked temp guage for cracks.. none.. just replaced heater core two weeks ago so i doubt thats the problem.. opened up dash.. got to heater core housing, no leaks.. heater hoses were hot, so thats not the problem.. turned on car while heater core housing was open, blend door works perfectly!! very cold air was blowing from the thing next to the heater core (on the right, dont know what it is but it looks like a beefed up heater core, to give u visual), heater core itself was hot (on the grill) but did not seem to be pumping out a lot of hot air (maybe its not supposed to, im not familiar).. so whats the problem????? why am i not getting hot or cold air? i have yet to recharge it, but if the thing next to the heater core is pumping out cold air, that shouldnt be a concern.. HELP!! i need to fix this before nightfall and its almost 4:30!!
im not trying to offend, im just a little slow, but what does that mean?? i thought if the motor was not working, then the blend door wouldnt move.. but it is moving.. can u elaborate and tell me where exactly to lookn for the motor?? thanks!
p.s. i just talked to a buddy of mine who is a ford mechanic and he said it might be some box in the engine bay that stuck or somethin.. any help would be greatly appreciated!
its not the blend door or the motor, its a problem with your ac system. The thing next to the heater core is the evaporator, a key player in your ac system. If you want your ac system to work properly you need to take it in, have it evacuated and then charged. You can try to charge it yourself but if you have air or a crap load of moisture in there its maybe going to work kinda. Technically when you take apart an ac system you should take out the accumulator/reciever dryer so that the dessicant bags in there dont junk out from sucking moisture out of the atmospehere when the system is opened up.
well i didnt take apart the ac system.. and the air from the evaporator core is friggin cold, so i don't think rechargin it would be the solution.. i am kinda leanin towards the blend door motor being bad, but i still have no idea where the motor is or how to fix it. can someone please tell me where the blend door motor is??????
if you can see the blend door, there is an arm on the end of it sticking thru the hosuing. the motor is attached to the outside of the housing to the arm. im assuming you have the standard F150 setup and not the full electronic system.---- thw way it works is the heater is always hot, the blend door is positioned to mix outside air and hot air from the heater to "mix" and make the temp you want in the cab. you should be able to set the blend door completely to one side and the blower motor will push air only thru the heater core and all hot air, no cold.
alright guys, thanks for all the replies, found out it was just a bad connection to the blend door motor.. took it out, checked it with a voltmeter, everything was fine, plugged it back in and presto, worked like new.
