Just like the title says I beat a 96 or 97 4x4 ram tonight. This guy was on my a** on the way down one hill and we had to go up another and I knew he was going to try and blow around me. So I gave my 97 4.6 all she got and watched the tach jump to over 4k. The Dodge almost got me but I think his truck shifted to the next gear before mine did and all he was eatin was 4.6 exhaust. Not to bad for a 4.6 with 197,4xx on the clock.
I think he prolly backed out of it. All in all they do run good. I know my dad's '04 E150 van with a 4.6 is pretty quick when it's empty. Even loaded it's no slug.

I think you might be right. He got along side of me and then he fell back. When my truck shifted it did just after i started going up the hill. I know everyone thinks that a 4.6 is a gutless motor, but I don't believe it is.
One of the guys I work with wants to race his 90 Saab 4cyl 5spd against my truck on the highway. I told him I don't want. I don't feel like getting a ticket for reckless driving and speeding.
That's a good idea. I do know that 5.4 equipped F150 will flat spank a similarly equipped 350 powered Chevy. I mean SPANK too, my dad got to witness that one. His boss bought a brand new F150 with a 5.4, the guys son wanted to race him in his '96 Cehvy 1500 with a 350 and some mods. The story I heard was that the Ford ran circles around the chev... I can believe it too. I know our 4.6 E150 runs circles around my old 351w.
