We had a local tractor pull today in our area and they let you "Run What You Brung". I entered with my SuperDuty and had good results. I made it to the third round before I got beat by a 01 PowerStroke 350 and a 00 Dodge Cummins Turbo. The Powerstroke is ok but I can't stand being beat by the Dodge and not to mention it was a co-workers father-in-laws. All I know is that he has a chip installed. He has been ragging me all day to the point I won't answer the phone! Is there any way to redeem myself and the V-10? Oh yeah, the Powerstroke came in 1st, the Dodge 2nd, and I was 3rd.
Jason, sounds like ya still did the V-10 proud given the variables. Tell the Dodge dude to pull the chip and disconnect the turbo and that oughta put him behind the FORD boys.
I was hoping that some of the oil would leak out in front of the tires! I think I did pretty good with what I have. The Dodge only beat me by 27ft. The amazing thing is that the only vehicles that entered were 2 Dodges and 5 Fords. The announcer tried his best to get a Chevy to enter with no luck. He even picked on some of the guys that he knew drove Chevys. The other Dodge was a Power Wagon with what size of motor I don't know. He finished 5th With a 460 Ford finishing 4th. The only problem was on a 76ish F-250 that broke a front driveshaft. All in all I had a ball and would do it again. Maybe next time I will have something for the Dodges! Don't have to worry about the Chevys, they must be afraid!
first congradulations! secondly i am wondering what trans. you have and what gear you pulled in if it is a 5 sp. and i wouldnt feel bad about gettin beat by the deisel trucks. they have more weight then you which helps them out alot. also them deisels have tons o' torque giving them another great advantage. ill tell ya why the chevy boys stayed under the porch, they are afraid of breakin their beloved bow ties.
I am running an Automatic (thanks to the wife) and I shifted from first to second. I wish I had a 6 speed and 4.56 gears, then I believe I could have taken that Dodge. At least a Ford won it anyway even though it was burning oil :P I always thought that if you were burning oil it was time for a rebuild! Just joking guys!
Congrats on doing us V10'ers proud. I really do wish that you guys wouldn't have told me about doing this because now I am really wanting to try it (I was already pondering the idea). A couple questions though did you pull in 4hi and how much weight was on the sled???
Was the dodge a stick shift or auto A stick has a big advantage and I think you would have been better off leaving in first gear low range because with your tire size to gear ratio you would had good speed in first gear and plenty of power to finish
