Water pump working?
Water pump working?
Does anybody have any tips on to check to see if my water pump is working correctly on my bronco? I have no reason to think that it's not working, but I just want to make sure its not something obvious before I start buying new components in order to keep my 351w from overheating.
thanks for any help

Water pump working?
That was one of the symptoms, there are others:
1) Any coolant leaking from the seal/bearing/or weep hole.
2) Cavitation from air in the system can corrode the impellers of the pump and decrease its efficiency over time. You would notice that the vehicle would be running warmer over the expanse of time (months, years,...) Eventually you would overheat from the lack of coolant circulation, with no visual clue. A diagnosis would be to take the rad cap of when the vehicle has been sitting overnight (NEVER when the cooling system is still pressurized). With the cap off, fire up the truck and goose the accelerator cable underhood. Check to see if coolant circulates after the thermostat opens.
